2024

World soil day 2024

World Soil Day is celebrated annually on December 5th. This day was established by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations to raise awareness about the importance of soil as a vital resource for life and to promote its sustainable management.

The 2024 theme focuses on topics such as soil health, combating erosion, pollution with heavy metals and degradation. It’s an opportunity to highlight the role of soil in ensuring food security, protecting biodiversity, and mitigating climate change.

The “Cross-border Network for Education and Research of Natural Resources” project was presented during the World Soil Day event, highlighting the importance of cross-border collaboration in education and research related to natural resources.

This project aims to create a common framework for knowledge exchange, data sharing, and best practices between neighboring countries or regions. Its main objectives include:

Monitoring soil and natural resources through advanced studies and technologies;

Training specialists in sustainable soil management;

Educating local communities on environmental protection.

Such initiatives are crucial for combating soil degradation, promoting sustainable agriculture, and fostering regional cooperation for a healthier environment. Let me know if you’d like more specific details about the project!
